TOY DESIGN

Toy design, as I learned, is an exploration and study of one’s own childhood/play style as much as it is a prompt to design for children

Play is as diverse as the cultures, individuals, and communities we live in
Course: Toy Design
Time frame: 14 Weeks (05.2024)
Professor: Krystina Castella

DESIGN BRIEF

Using prior research, design a sustainable toy which has a high play value

Design Research, Design for Manufacturing, Ideation Sketching, Visual Communication, Iterative Prototyping

RESEARCH

Design Opportunity
As children grow, their schema expands and designing toys that are additive to this expansion is my goal

CURRENTLY:
Playgrounds are familiar to children and there is no/very few opportunities for collaboration in designing the play environment

Design toys which allow children to create/modify/customize their play environment in public spaces

CREATING COMMUNITY

Wooby and Pitzi are meant to enhance the playground experience;

The intention is that they can be purchased to expand on existing infrastructure by cities, schools, and community centers, not only by individuals
